The Visit to Jahan-Nama and Quri Qaleh Complex
The Jahan-Nama Protected Area in Golestan Province, the largest protected area in the region after Golestan National Park, is one of the most pristine mid-altitude forests in northern Iran. Renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, clear views of sunrise and sunset, and the phenomenon of a "sea of clouds," this area, known as the "Roof of Golestan," attracts numerous tourists and hikers.
Additionally, the visit to the Quri Qaleh Complex, the largest water cave in the Middle East, revealed notable concerns. The use of heating lamps in the cave has led to the growth of green moss on the limestone walls, gradually damaging its structure. Although 3,140 meters of the cave’s length have been discovered, only 450 meters are open to the public, while the remaining sections remain undeveloped and lack preservation measures.
These visits highlight the magnificence of Iran's natural heritage, from lush forests and vibrant wildlife to ancient caves with millions of years of history, emphasizing the critical need for protecting these invaluable resources.
