Simultaneously with the processes of urban and industrial development, wetland ecosystems are affected by natural and artificial changes through physical, chemical and energy processes. As this trend continues, the pollution of heavy metals is becoming increasingly serious, and aquatic birds that live in wetlands are at risk of death. Given that determining the environmental quality using metal concentrations in many organisms is costly and time consuming, index indicators and textures should be selected for this purpose. Biological monitoring seems to be a good way to determine the amount of heavy metals and bioavailability. Aquatic bird populations can be used as conservation species for natural and toxic environmental problems. As different parts of the birds, they can be used to study the heavy metal pollution of wetland systems. The advantages and disadvantages of them, as well as waterfowl, will be discussed below.
