Participatory conservation has emerged as a novel strategy for biodiversity preservation, emphasizing synergy among local communities, governmental bodies, and the private sector. The conference on “Lessons Learned from Participatory Conservation” was held to explore the multidimensional aspects of this approach. Speakers shared successful case studies, including the Mansourabad Wildlife Refuge and the reintroduction of Persian fallow deer in Dez National Park, highlighting the importance of integrating local stakeholders into decision-making and implementation processes. Effective community participation not only fosters sustainable biodiversity conservation but also enhances public trust, reduces environmental conflicts, and creates economic value. The outcomes of the conference underscore the need for transitioning from traditional methods to participatory conservation through capacity building, transparency, and strengthened inter-organizational collaboration.
