Climate change plays an important role in increasing the frequency and intensity of floods and natural disasters related to water. Increasing temperature, changing precipitation patterns, melting ice and changing the behavior of rivers are among the factors that lead to an increase in the risk of floods; in the current situation, according to the statistics of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Organization of the country, Iran is the fourth most flood-prone country in the world in a way that in 10 years Recently, more than 1,600 floods have occurred, each of which has left an average of 40 billion Tomans in economic damage, and the total is about 64 thousand billion Tomans. The effort to develop flood-resistant rice is due to the strategic importance of rice in providing food security. Countries experiencing frequent floods have increased. In this regard, extensive research has been done by IRRI and international researchers to produce varieties of rice that can withstand flood conditions while maintaining the quality and quantity of the product.
